When you join our dynamic and motivated Engineering department, you will be part of a group that keeps our processes and equipment running smoothly in production. Our team includes technicians, special operators, engineers, and workshop personnel, all working together to ensure operational excellence. The department is divided into different specializations: Workshop, MCVD, OC, Draw, Rewind & Measurement, and Process Development all of which focus on continuity, optimization, and improvement.

You will be joining the team responsible for process development throughout the manufacturing chain. The team collaborates closely with numerous departments in the organization, including the R&D team and the product management team.

Charles Funk, who will be your manager, leads the department with expert guidance, prioritizing both well-being and professional development. He is passionate and has many years of experience in numerous roles at Lightera.

   

Your New Exciting Job
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lightera, you will take a lead in implementing projects and improvements to support our key strategic activities, minimize reactive problem-solving by the team, and optimize and implement processes and equipment throughout the factory. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional projects focused on process and equipment implementation, following the company’s stage gate process.
  • Design and test process improvements in collaboration with area specialists, production teams, and R&D.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to fabricate and evaluate prototypes for new equipment or process solutions.
  • Drive initiatives to introduce and scale new manufacturing capabilities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for process equipment, including specifications, drawings, procedures, and maintenance guidelines.
  • Analyze and understand the impact of production processes on product performance and quality.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and proposing data-driven solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all engineering activities.

Qualifications
We imagine that our new colleague has the following qualifications:

  • Holds a master’s degree within mechanical engineering or related field. Experience and knowledge about optical fiber, glass processing, or precision manufacturing is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in 3D design and technical drawing, preferably with experience using PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and disciplines.
  • Interest in production processes and their influence on product performance and quality.
  • Curious and proactive mindset, with a strong interest in understanding the fundamentals within the different specialization areas across the factory.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to lead and coordinate cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Is fluent in English, both spoken and written, and conversational in Danish.
