Project Developer

At Teal Renewables US, we are passionate about creating sustainable energy projects that honor the land, empower landowners, and strengthen the livelihood of our communities. Our commitment is to build partnerships and deliver sustainable energy that benefits both landowners and the communities we serve, fostering a brighter, shared future.

We are looking for a highly motivated and cross‑functional Project Developer to help bring renewable energy projects from concept to notice to proceed for construction. In this role, you will guide complex utility‑scale projects through the full development lifecycle—from early-stage feasibility and land acquisition to permitting, interconnection, financial modeling, and ultimately a smooth handoff to the construction team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving meaningful challenges, working across technical and commercial disciplines, and shaping projects that deliver long‑term environmental and economic impact. This role is hybrid, preferably based in The Woodlands, TX, with occasional travel to project sites, partner meetings, and stakeholder engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Development

  • Support the identification and development of new solar, wind, and battery storage projects.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments covering technical, environmental, and financial viability.
  • Secure land rights, permits, and licenses needed for project success.
  • Build and manage high‑level and detailed project schedules.
  • Provide regular reporting to the leadership team and board of directors.

Stakeholder & Partner Engagement

  • Work closely with communities, permitting agencies, regulatory bodies, and utilities.
  • Build strong relationships with engineering firms, contractors, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with investors and financial institutions to support project financing.

Technical Oversight

  • Coordinate with internal and external engineering teams on system design.
  • Manage interconnection applications and utility coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support procurement of key equipment and materials.

Financial & Risk Management

  • Partner with the Finance team to build financial models and support funding strategies.
  • Develop and track project budgets, costs, and ROI.
  • Identify development risks, maintain risk matrices, and develop mitigation plans.

Project Execution & Monitoring

  • Oversee all stages of development to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure readiness for construction (RTB/NTP).
  • Conduct post‑development reviews and apply lessons learned to future projects.

Sustainability & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards and permitting requirements.
  • Support strategies to minimize environmental impacts.
  • Stay informed on renewable energy policies and incentive programs.

Professional Experience

  • Experience in full‑cycle development of renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS).
  • Familiarity with land control, environmental permitting, interconnection queues, and zoning processes.
  • Ability to engage effectively with landowners, utilities, regulators, investors, and commercial partners.
  • Strong financial understanding of CAPEX/OPEX, LCOE, IRR, and project finance fundamentals.
  • Experience navigating contracts such as PPAs, EPC agreements, land agreements, and interconnection documents.
