Tax Manager - Copenhagen

Are you ready to shape the tax function of an international shipping company?

Clipper is enhancing its internal tax capability as part of a continued focus on strengthening governance and decision support across the organisation. We are therefore looking for a dedicated and hands-on Tax Manager to be based at Clipper’s headquarters in Copenhagen.

Today, tax matters at Clipper are handled across Finance, Legal and external advisors. With increasing regulatory complexity and risk exposure, we are establishing a more formalized and proactive tax function. The Tax Manager will play a key role in building this capability and embedding robust tax governance across the organization.

You will report directly to the CFO and work closely with the Head of Legal & Corporate Affairs and Head of Controlling and external advisors.

What will be your responsibilities:

You will be responsible for both strategic and operational tax matters across Clipper’s global activities. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain Clipper’s tax governance framework, including a tax risk register and clear processes for identifying, assessing and managing tax risks.
  • Review the tax implications of material transactions and challenge tax positions and advice from external advisors where relevant.
  • Own and oversee transfer pricing policies, intercompany agreements, benchmarking and documentation.
  • Monitor and manage cross-border tax matters, including withholding tax, freight tax and permanent establishment risks.
  • Oversee compliance with Danish tonnage tax requirements, including calculations, documentation and relevant controls.
  • Coordinate corporate tax, VAT and employment tax compliance and reporting across jurisdictions, ensuring timely filings and robust documentation.
  • Advise on tax matters related to international employee mobility and contractor arrangements.
  • Monitor relevant tax and regulatory developments, including OECD Pillar Two and environmental and emissions-related taxes, and assess their impact on Clipper.
  • Act as Clipper’s internal tax expert and trusted sparring partner, advising management on tax implications of strategic and operational decisions.

What we are looking for:

At Clipper, our employees shape our work environment, so bringing a positive attitude is essential.

  • We imagine that you have a relevant educational background within finance, tax, business administration, law or similar, combined with solid experience in corporate and international tax.
  • You have hands-on experience with tax governance and tax risk management, combined with strong knowledge of transfer pricing, cross-border taxation and international tax principles.
  • You are comfortable working with external advisors while also challenging and validating tax positions when needed.
  • You are structured and analytical, but also pragmatic and commercially minded.
  • You enjoy taking ownership, working independently and turning complex tax matters into practical advice and solutions for the business.
  • You communicate confidently across functions and levels of the organisation and are fluent in both Danish and English.
  • Shipping experience, including knowledge of tonnage tax or other shipping-specific tax matters, is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Don’t meet every single requirement?

If you’re enthusiastic about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with each qualification, we still encourage you to apply. You could be the ideal candidate for this position, or for another opportunity with us.
