Group Financial Controller

You can expect

Dry bulk shipping is our core business at Lauritzen Bulkers, where we are experiencing a very strong market and increasing activity. In order for the finance department to provide the right support to Lauritzen Bulkers and due to growing activity in the other shipping related activities within the Group, we are expanding the team.


We have a broad palette of tasks waiting for you. After proper introduction, you will be deeply involved in developing and performing the controlling, monitoring and reporting activities in relation to Lauritzen Bulkers as well as the shipping related activities, which our owner, the Lauritzen Foundation is planning to transfer into the Group. 


You will join a team in which we constantly aim to do better via joint efforts and mutual flexibility.


The assignments of the position include:

  • Financial controlling
  • Participation in the preparation and controlling of interim and annual reports
  • Tax planning, control of portfolio investments and subsidiaries
  • Ad-hoc support to management in relation to investments and subsidiaries
  • Participation in projects in the Lauritzen group.

You will be joining a finance team of eight in Copenhagen and two in Singapore covering accounting, controlling, reporting, treasury and corporate finance functions for the entire J. Lauritzen Group.


We expect

The ideal candidate holds a relevant academic degree e.g. M.Sc. in Accounting/Finance or similar.


You have a minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting. This may have been obtained from roles of auditor or financial controller. Furthermore, you have good knowledge of IFRS and Danish statutory reporting. Prior exposure to the maritime industry will be an advantage, but not a requirement.


You must be a fast learner with the ability to produce high calibre products without losing the overall picture. You are a self-starter who thrives on working independently whilst enjoying contributing to the success of the entire finance team.


You are also well organised, flexible, have a high sense of urgency, and know-how to prioritise your tasks.


Fluency in written and spoken English is important as it is our working language. It is also essential to have a flair for the use of IT systems to develop and improve processes and deep knowledge of MS Office products – especially Excel.

 

Your new workplace

Currently, we use SAP BPC, MS Dynamics NAV (Navision) in the finance department and IMOS is the core business system. Knowledge and working experience with these systems are advantageous but not a requirement.
