Legal Counsel for an international shipping company

Your new job
Your primary work will be to provide practical, timely and business-focused assistance on legal, insurance and compliance matters to our colleagues across the globe.
Your legal and insurance tasks will include:
- General business issues such as corporate set-up
- Financial agreements
- IT or purchasing contracts
- Specific shipping issues such as charterparties, cargo claims, shipping disputes and sale and purchase of vessels.
- Renewal of marine and non-marine insurances
- Benchmarking of insurance cover and costs
- Insurance advisory
- Claims handling
Your compliance tasks will span from sanctions and anti-corruption to fraud and include day-to-day advice, seminars and policy maintenance.
You will form part of a two-person team, reporting to our Group General Counsel. You will work independently and will soon be able to leave your mark.
Your professional and personal qualifications
You are an experienced lawyer, Danish and/or English qualified, with a commercial and practical mindset and a proven professional and educational background. Ideally, you consider yourself as a generalist who enjoys working with all aspects of an international shipping company's business.
You can communicate complex legal, insurance and compliance problems in a clear and concise manner.
You thrive in a dynamic environment where it is hard to predict what the day will bring. You enjoy dealing with varied tasks, you can work with short deadlines, understand how to tackle risks and high value commitments, and know and appreciate an international environment.
Proficiency in English is a prerequisite. Shipping and/or insurance & claims experience as well as experience with IT contracts, Intellectual Property Rights, Tax and Corporate law is an advantage but not a must.
