Contract Manager

How will you contribute to our team

As Contract Manager, you will contribute to the construction of the projects in the US. To be successful in this role will depend on your experience, drive and willingness to influence the green transition projects.

 

About the job

You will join our onshore Wind Solar team, which is tasked with delivering technical project management, project management, and contract management throughout the development and construction of onshore Solar and Wind project. 

 

We work both on standalone projects and on Power-to-X projects with our colleagues in the PtX department. We work on large-scale utility projects in all parts of the world. We have different

backgrounds in the team; from Engineers to Legal, but we all work together to achieve the best result for our projects.

 

The purpose of the role is to oversee projects in construction performed in partnership between the organisation and other stakeholders. Your biggest responsibility is to coordinate every aspect of the project, from procurement to reviewing and approving contracts and coordinating deadlines in the final stage, as well as managing the contract during construction.

Your accountabilities are likely to vary, but your main tasks may include:

 

  • Read OEM and EPC/BOP contracts and lead technical/ commercial contract negotiations on behalf of our client together with legal counsel and Technical Project Manager.
  • Lead internal review of commercial exhibits and align with Technical Project Manager on scope of work review and technical exhibits.
  • Highlight risk and opportunities in contract and keep track of cost development.
  • Prioritize open contractual points and provide recommendations on prioritization and/ or trade-offs.
  • Work closely with the project team to understand the project and highlight the impact on cost and risk profile that the contracts have.
  • Manage contracts including change orders during construction.

You will be working from our office in Houston at 3120 Southwest Freeway; Houston, TX 77098 (but for this role, we are open to profiles across the US) However, we are globally represented, and as such, all our positions require flexibility from time to time, and in addition, it might require traveling as well.

You are curious and eager to empower your potential. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of relevant experience in the energy or construction industry.

We expect you to enrich our business with the following experience and skills:

  • Strong analytic skills; able to read contracts and understand the impact of definitions and commercial clauses,
  • Experience preparing negotiation strategy and leading commercial negotiations
  • Trustworthy; it is important that your client trusts you to lead negotiations,
  • Team player; you are able to set the direction for your project team and ensure that everyone understands the task and work towards to the same goal,
  • Experience reading and negotiating OEM and BOP/EPC contracts; preferably from the wind industry,
  • Deep understanding of risks and opportunities in the construction of wind and solar projects,
  • Ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of various contractual issues, to prioritize, and to use this knowledge to close the best deal for our client and the projects,
  • Excellent ability to communicate and document results and assumptions,
  • Ability to navigate in a complex contractual landscape.
