Shipping Trainees for
Lauritzen Bulkers in Singapore
Lauritzen Bulkers is seeking Bachelors in Business/Maritime Studies who are ready to embark on a commercial career. We will teach you the fundamentals of shipping and your responsibility will grow alongside your learning curve. Our focus is to combine new technology and data analytics tools with the traditional craftsmanship required to sell seaborne transportation.
We expect you to have strong business acumen and an international mindset. Our business is built on trading. In other words, you thrive on reaching out to brokers, clients, and other business partners. You want to understand their needs, build new business relations, negotiate, and make the right decisions to obtain the best deal for the company. You are proud of the results you achieve, without compromising an empathic approach to teamwork. We depend on new ideas - maybe yours - and seek to constantly adapt to new market opportunities. As we are an international shipping company, English is our working language, which means that your spoken and written English must be fluent. To become successful in your traineeship you also need to be proactive, flexible and competitive.
What we can offer
You will be working at our office in Singapore and will be in close contact with our colleagues worldwide. We are trading freight and you will enter a fast-paced environment where you will be exposed to both the operation and chartering departments.
Tasks in the chartering department relate to selling sea transportation services and negotiating freight contracts.
In the operation department, you will be in dialogue with stakeholders, including local authorities worldwide, to plan and optimise vessels' voyages from port to port.
There will also be opportunities for rotation and exposure in the laytime, control, bunkers and risk management departments to complete your learning journey.
We have a strong focus on your development and on-the-job performance from day one and a mentor will be assigned to you while you work in each department.
The program commences in July 2024 and has a planned duration of two years. We give you hands-on experience from day one.
